For tradespeople who work on their own

Quotes, job photos and invoices, from the van.

My Job Book keeps every job in your pocket — who, where, what you did and what they owe you. It works with no signal, and it does the VAT sums properly.

The demo is a real account full of invented jobs. Change anything you like.

My Job Book's Today screen on a phone: two visits booked for today, a kitchen tap in Harrogate at nine and a radiator in Knaresborough at eleven, each with a big I'm here button and buttons for directions and calling the customer.

How it works

One job, from the phone call to the money in the bank.

No office, no laptop, no evening spent typing up. Everything happens on the phone you already carry.

  1. Book it in while they're still on the phone

Name, address, what's wrong, when you'll be there. Next time they ring, their address, their boiler and every job you've done for them are already there.

A job in My Job Book: fit a new radiator in the back bedroom for Daniel and Priya Shah at 3 Beech Grove, Knaresborough, with buttons for directions and calling, and a parking note saying the drive is free before 5pm.
  2. Turn up, tap “I'm here”, get on with it

Your day is in order on one screen. Take photos of the before and after, add a note, tick off your checklist — with or without a signal. Anything done in a loft or a basement goes up when you're back in range.

    • Directions and the customer's number, one tap away
    • Photos keep the time they were taken
    • Your own checklists, for the checks you always do
The Today screen: the day's visits in time order, each with an I'm here button, directions and a call button.
  3. Quote before, or invoice after

Add your labour and parts once and the quote or invoice is made for you, with your business details and bank details on it. Email it from the job, or save it as a PDF.

    • Not VAT registered? No VAT appears anywhere.
    • VAT registered? Householders see prices with VAT in; businesses see it added.
    • Invoices are numbered for you, and locked once issued, so nothing changes after the customer has it.
A quote for Oakfield Lettings at 41 Station Parade, Harrogate: an anti-snap euro cylinder and labour, £83.00 in total, valid for 30 days, with a button to print or save it as a PDF.
  4. See who owes you, and chase it in one tap

Record a payment — in full or in part — and the invoice knows it's paid. Anything late shows up with how many days late it is, and a reminder is one tap away.

An invoice for Frank Hollis, INV-0002, marked late: sixteen days late, it was due on 30 August. Labour and an outside tap kit, £122.00 in total.
Everything in the box

Made for one person, not an office.

No dispatch boards, no staff rotas, no menus you'll never use. Just the jobs.

Today, in order

Your visits for the day, with directions, the customer's number and a big button for the next thing to do.

No signal? No problem

Arrive, finish, add notes and photos in a loft or a cellar. It all sends itself when you're back in range.

Photos on the job

Before and after, straight from the camera, filed on the job with the time they were taken.

Quotes and invoices

Built from the prices on the job, with your details and bank details. Emailed, or saved as a PDF.

Who owes you what

Paid, part-paid and late at a glance, with a one-tap reminder. Also a list of finished work you haven't invoiced yet.

Your own checklists

Write the checks you always do once, tick them off at the job. A failed check you mark as important stops the job being closed.

Customers, addresses, kit

Every customer's addresses, access notes and the equipment you look after there — with the full history of jobs.

It's your data

Download everything as spreadsheets whenever you like — even if you stop paying. Backed up every night.

Questions

The things people ask first.

Do I need to give a card to try it?

No. You get 14 days with everything switched on and no card. If you don't subscribe, your account goes read-only — nothing is deleted, and you can still download it all.

Does it really work without signal?

Yes. Job pages you've opened recently stay on your phone, and anything you do there — arriving, finishing, notes, photos, checklists — is saved on the phone and sent on its own when you're back in range. It tells you what's still waiting to go.

Is there an app?

Yes, on Android: get My Job Book on Google Play. On an iPhone it runs in the web browser, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app. Either way it's the same account on your phone, tablet and computer, and you subscribe on our website, not in the app.

I'm not VAT registered. Will it add VAT?

No. Tell it you're not registered and no VAT appears on anything. If you are registered, householders see prices with VAT included and business customers see it added — worked out line by line, so the pennies add up.

Does it handle CIS?

Not yet. Invoices don't take CIS deductions off, so if you work as a subcontractor under CIS, check with your accountant before relying on it for those jobs.

Can I cancel?

Any time, from the Billing page. You keep using it until the end of the month or year you've paid for. If you pay yearly and change your mind within 14 days, you get the lot back.

What if I take someone on?

Our Job Book — the same app, built for a small team with vans on the road — is on its way. When it's ready, your jobs, customers and invoices move across with you.

Your next job could be your first one in it.

14 days free. No card. Set up in about two minutes.
